Five days and counting...

Ali Rawlinson cruises through the £3,000 mark in London Marathon sponsorship, which is an awesome effort that will be matched we are sure by his efforts on the day.

We will be down there in town to cheer him on. Between now and then it will be pasta and early nights only for the man in lycra from Blackpool.

Keep on running.....

Wednesday 8 April 2009

17 days and counting until Ali Rawlinson runs the London Marathon.

His fundraising total is climbing by the week and his training is going well. Even builders throwing apples at him will not stop him!

Go Ali Bongo!

Thursday 2 April 2009

On Thursday 26th March 2009, two volunteers hosted an event for the mutual benefit of UBS [ www.u-b-s.org.uk ] and the small charity, Building Schools for Africa [ www.schoolsforafrica.co.uk ]in order to split the proceeds 50/50.

It was a music event held at the Tooting Tram and Social Club in South West London,
which proved to be a brilliant bar and music venue and kindly gave us the venue free of charge.

The event had a difference…. Live music in which the audience could participate!

The band Rockaoke [ http://www.rockaoke.co.uk/ ], fronted by a close friend of UBS and who have a residency in Punk nightclub in Soho, provided the music. As with all the band's gigs, members of the crowd were encouraged to choose their favourite song and take the mic as the lead singer! For those who do not enjoy the limelight, they could simply stand back, enjoy a few drinks and a brilliant gig.

The event was a storming success with a capacity crowd, a full set of happy winners of the raffle that was supported by some fantastic donated prizes for which we were so grateful and the evening raised a total profit of more than £2,700... A great result.

Two great causes helped and a top night in the process, thanks to everyone involved.
UBS is doing all it can to gather support for our very first Flora London Marathon runner. We have been on the waiting list to get a place for some years and we are proud to have Alexander Rawlinson as our runner who will be in action with the thousands of others on Sunday 26th April 2009.

This is his first ever marathon attempt so needs as much support and encouragement as possible. If you would like to donate some money to UBS in support of him, or forward this email to your friends, family or contacts on our behalf it would be immensely appreciated please?!

He has a page set up for online donations on Just Giving, which can be found at…

As you can see from his picture and call to arms, he is facing quite a few challenges, especially running in lycra as tight as that looks!

Thanks to all our kind supporters for their help!
